Aims

The aim of this blog is to raise awareness of aspects of life working as a teacher for the British Council, particularly for those newly employed by them or those hoping to move up the career ladder.  I myself worked for them for seven years, and had hoped to spend the rest of my working life with them.  However, some unfortunate managerial decisions led to my premature departure in what, I must admit, was a fairly disillusioned state.  As a result, I have a fairly rounded view of both the positive and negatives of the organisation.  Whenever I focus on what I consider to be negative aspects of the organisation, I do so in a spirit of constructive criticism and always try to suggest possible solutions.  At present it is not possible to express dissent or dissatisfaction internally within the organisation, particularly with regard to the management, so I feel it is important that there should be an open forum to discuss such issues.  Any company or organisation, in my opinion, should welcome honest evaluation if they are serious about improving their stature and performance. I hope people will comment freely on any topic of interest to them without inhibition, and to facilitate this I have made it possible to comment anonymously.
